Other/Imperial star destroyer
Since roughly a thousand years—well it’s since 1996 actually—I’m working on a 1:1000 scale model of an Imperial Star Destroyer as seen in the original Star Wars motion pictures. Around 1994 I started by building cardboard models of it in 1:4000 and 1:2000 so the step to 1:1000 seemed a reasonable step. It wasn’t.
Since then work is going on sporadically for more than 13 years, a lot of parts were done and redone, since I gained access to better materials, as well as better reference material. For example I have built all the upper structure parts twice (except the tower itself), because my father fell over the model while I was abroad. My first go at it was rubbish anyway.
An aggressive building campaign started after I finished my diploma in 2004, probably spending more hours building than in the 8 years before.
